Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into other forms, like electrical energy. Wind machines (such as wind turbines) are used to capture the wind’s kinetic energy. Wind turbines can convert wind power into electricity usually through the use of an electrical generator.
Wind power plants, also called wind farms, can have several wind turbines scattered over a large area. The Northwind power project on Bangui Bay operates 15 wind turbines, generating 74,482 MWh annually for Ilocos Norte.
Wind power is renewable and does not produce greenhouse gases during operation. Wind power is efficient has the potential to provide for our future energy needs at less cost.
