The Kyoto Protocol

 

The NorthWind Project is the first in the Philippines to be covered with an Emision Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA), under the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol, an international anti-pollution treaty.

On December 9, 2004, the ERPA was signed by NorthWind and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development through the World Bank Prototype Carbon Fund.

The Bangui Bay project is also the first to receive a Letter of Approval from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, as the Kyoto Protocol’s Philippines Designated National Authority, last December 16, 2005.

The Project was registered with the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) on September 10, 2006.

NorthWind received its Carbon Emission Reduction Certificate from the Executive Board of the United Nations Framework Concention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) on May 22,2007.
